Weekend Recap: Let the Season Begin!

What a fun and busy weekend.  This weekend was the start of soccer season and the first weekend of football.  The weather was beautiful and the family enjoyed spending time together--even though we had to separate for a bit.  Here's this weekend's recap!

Weekend Recap: Fantasy Football Potluck

This weekend was our annual Fantasy Football Draft and Potluck.  It was such a great time!

Weekend Recap: Top 5

Hi everyone!  I hope your weekend was filled with lots of joy and family time. We had an enjoyable weekend filled with faith and family fun. It was nice to be able to spend some time together.  I picked out a few of my favorites to share with you on our Weekend Recap:  Top 5.

Weekend Recap: Beautiful Weather, Family Time, and the Sickness Persists

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a fantastic weekend.  The weather was just amazing for us this past weekend and after the cold temps that picked at us while visiting the zoo, I was here for it!  Unfortunately, while the weather was beautiful, we were still plagued by persistent sickness. Baby A. has had a fever that keeps returning.  We know from her appointment that it is a virus that must run its course, but...ugh.  Still, there were plenty of highlights and we were able to have some cool family memories together.

Sick and Pregnant

Hello everyone!  I was supposed to have posted my Weekend Recap about our fun zoo trip yesterday, but Sunday night I was hit with a massive stomach virus that had me regurgitating everything in my stomach every 40 minutes like clockwork.  This lasted until yesterday morning about 6:30, but by then I was so weak and tired from using the trash can as my friend that I just lay on the couch trying to see if I was going to brave enough to try and eat.  I wasn't until about 6:30 last evening when the baby in my belly started dictating that I try something.

Weekend Recap: Our Top 5

Friday afternoon, I picked Bug up from school a few minutes before dismissal so that he could get a hair cut.  His hair grows so fast, so he was definitely overdue.  I love out barber.  He's a family friend who has an amazing rapport with kids and adults alike.  The last time he cut Bug's hair, Bug promised him that he'd bring him a baked good that he cooked from the Raddish club.  He bought him a full plate and they were pretty yummy.  Bug walked out with a nice haircut and we enjoyed some Mommy Son time in the car.

My Big Fat Laid Back Weekend Recap

I have often enjoyed reading the blogs of moms and professional bloggers who share what that particular day looks like for them.  This weekend, because it was scheduled to be super cold and murky (alas, it really wasn't), I decided that I'd capture what our weekend looked like.  Again, it was pretty boring thanks to the colder temps outside, but I hope you enjoy the read.

I posted in our Valentine's recap that Bug has been dealing with a nasty case of the flu and has been under strict quarantine.  Prior to his getting sick, Mr. Bug decided to play catch inside the garage (a no-no) and accidentally broke a garage light and disengaged the garage door opener.  👀  He didn't tell us what happened and we found out when we couldn't enter the garage that evening.

You can see the bracket is totally disengaged from the ceiling.

Weekend Recap: Feeling Better..ish

Hi everyone! I absolutely hope you have had an amazing weekend!  Mine was pretty quiet, but very productive and that's saying a lot.  I haven't been feeling great at all with this morning sickness.  Even Friday night had me grabbing the commode at midnight (TMI).  Truthfully, I've been feeling more than useless and I know that (even though he hasn't said anything) it has been grating on him to have a wife whose schedule has literally been work, sleep, home, sleep.  Shoot, it's been grating on me too.

Weekend recap: Fun Times and Public Announcements

Hello everyone and happy Monday! It is a beautifully brisk 32 degrees outside and I am SHIVERING. I’m a fan of snow, but not of cold temperatures (how’s that for an oxymoron J). Anyway, this weekend was all kinds of interesting as the genders went separate ways to do separate things and then came together again for fellowship.

Friday evening, S. and Bug loaded up the car and headed to a Men’s Fellowship Lock-in at one of the neighboring churches in the community. I’m told there were over 200 men there and Bug told me later he had the BEST time. How awesome is it that my 12 year old son was excited and enjoyed talking about God and being/becoming a Godly man in Christ. While the men were away, the girls and I snuggled up watching Frozen and Ice Age because Baby A. wasn’t feeling so peppy. We watched the movies until it was bedtime and both girls snuggled in the bed with Mama until they couldn’t keep their eyes open. I then let them go to their beds. It was an awesome way to end the evening.

Saturday morning, everyone was up early. I gave the girls pastries with the intent of having a breakfast date out after my social media ministry meeting at the church. When we got there, our ministry leader had purchased hotcakes and juices for the entire ministry. That was so sweet of her. The girls enjoyed hashbrowns, juices, and pancakes while we discussed upcoming social media activities for the church. February will be a busy month!
Breakfast and brainstorming!  Got to love it!
Our church was also hosting a food giveaway event for furloughed government employees and contractors. Since the furlough was over and additional food remained, the event was opened to the public and it was such a blessing to see the people benefiting from the kindness of strangers. Things like this make me think there is hope for humanity after all. I promise there are days this world can look a bit bleak. It was great to see the spirit of love being shared to so many.

Meeting over and done, I was preparing to leave the church with the girls when…the sole of my boots broke!!! I’ve only worn these boots for about three months! I was so disappointed. The sole was so disintegrated that there was no way I could walk in the boots, let alone drive, so I did the next best thing. I drove in sock feet!

Anyway we can make it work, we will
The girls were now clamoring for food again (no surprise there as it was getting late), so I swung by Chick-Fil-A for a quick meal for everyone. I even indulged my sweet tooth because I was seriously craving something cookie and creamy lol. We made it back to the house without incident and ate our food and it wasn’t long before nap time was calling. Awesome. I laid the girls down and had an hour and a half to get some quiet time and house work done. YAY ME!!!!
Mmm, milkshakes...
After everyone was up later, I took the girls with me to my good sister-friend’s home while she straightened my hair. (BLESS YOU). I couldn’t do it because I’m just NOT good at doing my own complete straightening. While there, one of our mutual friends showed up and he, her husband, she, and I had great discussion about marriages and the different seasons and points of view in them. It was so awesome that we are planning a couple’s retreat where we can do something like that again. I’m really excited about it and can’t wait to share more when it happens!

We were there until 11PM when we all realized that we had church EARLY the next morning and would need to be calling it a night at our own homes. My hair was now straight and I looked pretty decent (THANK YOU!!!) So, I gathered the girls and off to the house we went. Now, while the girls and I were gallivanting around the community, S. and Bug were a state away at a weekend job S. was doing. Bug had the opportunity to do some interning things and I received these great pics of the time he was having. I am just so proud of him.

We were fast asleep when the men finally came home, but Bug told me later that he had a really enjoyable time just hanging with his dad. Aww. I love that!
Ignore the tears.  They were after I had a slight morning sickness episode.  But I still felt cute lol.
Sunday morning, I was up super early as we had early morning church service. I made it to the church right on time and was super excited to sing. I love my choir members and I love being able to sing praised to God with them. I am always thankful that God allows me to sing songs of praise and worship to Him. It is the absolute least I could do for all that He has done for me and my family. It was a beautiful service and a beautiful time. BUT there was a…bump…in the day.

Last Tuesday, I was quite ill at one of our rehearsals. The morning sickness was not my friend and I had to leave the floor a couple of times and pull over off the road going home because baby bean was just NOT happy with me. One of my fellow altos noticed and mentioned to her mother that she believed I may be expecting. On yesterday, the same alto asked me in private if I was. I informed her that I was, thanked her after she gave congratulations, and explained that S. and I were being selective in telling people for a couple of more weeks at least. We wouldn’t deny if asked outright, but we wanted to announce when we were ready. She was fine with that. Well, as luck would have it, her mother saw me later in the morning and announced loudly in the church foyer that she was so happy for me and congratulations. She also stated how she was a bit disappointed that I hadn’t shared the news with her. Again, this was loud and in proximity to other members who aren’t known for their discretion. Sigh… I quickly shushed her mother (who meant no harm) and informed her that yes I was, but wanted to keep it quiet for now as per S. and my desire to share when we were ready. Alas, the damage was done. By day’s end, we were receiving several congratulations. It seems the cat is out of the bag. Sigh. I’ll probably do another cute announcement post at some point, but yeah…

We did go home and have great food and movie time, so there’s a huge win for the weekend. How was yours? What did you do?

Weekend Recap: Celebration!

Hi everyone! What an amazing weekend! It flew by, but I have no complaints about that. I’m hoping your weekend was awesome. This weekend was filled with some of my favorite things—food and fun! Saturday was my sister in love’s birthday celebration. Her husband, my brother in love, hosted a girls’ night out weekend for her. It was so sweet.

Weekend Recap: Yep, it's really looking like Christmas now

Hi everyone.  I hope you had an amazing weekend.  It was a pretty perfect one as far as close to Winter entrances go.

Weekend Recap: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hello everyone!  I hope you've had an amazing weekend.  This weekend was the start of the Christmas season.  As such there were several gatherings and parties this weekend...all happening at the same time!  Unfortunately, S. and I don't possess that be in the same place at the same time super power, so we honored our RSVP for our company's holiday party.    Attire was semi casual, so I donned a beautiful black sweater, some sparkly jewelry, and swept the braids into an updo.  It was the perfect outfit.

Weekend Recap: Four Faves

Hi Guys!  I hope all is well with you.  It's time for another Weekly Recap and I wanted to pick a few of my favorite moments with you.

Weekend Recap: Adventures in Babysitting

Hello everyone!  After last weekend's amazing trip down college memory lane, I was pretty pleased to take it keep it local.  Friday night, S., Bug, my niece, and nephew joined the church's young adult and youth ministries in an all night Laser Tag event while I kept baby A. and Honeybee at home.  They had an amazing time and my niece and nephew came home with S. and Bug for the weekend.

Weekend Recap: 2018 NC A&T Homecoming (Photo Heavy)-Part I

Hello everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I definitely did as my husband, his coworker, his coworker’s wife (both of whom are without a doubt awesome), and I drove down to Greensboro, North Carolina to attend North Carolina A&T State University’s Homecoming. Known among Aggie alumni as #GHOE for Greatest Homecoming on Earth, we drove down on Friday and made our way back yesterday. Guys, it was a great trip.

Weekend Recap: My Weekend Top 5

I'm sorry for the delay, everyone!  It was a great weekend, but I got a bit busy in trying to recap it.    Friday night into early Saturday morning, our church hosted a Women's Lock-in where we fellowshipped, talked, and worshiped until 5AM.  It was an absolutely amazing event.  I have to admit I was reminded that I am not as young as I used to be lol because I was EXHAUSTED come time for Honeybee's game.  I decided instead of sharing tons of words and recaps, I'd list my Weekend Top 5.

Weekend Recap: Fair Thee Well, Auntie

This weekend I was blessed to attend the home going of my great aunt M.  That great aunt may make her seem distance, but when you remember that it was my great grandmother who raised me, it makes sense that I would have a close relationship with her sister.  I'm so glad that I did.

Weekend Recap: Of Soccer and Books!

Hi everyone!  Here's hoping you had a really enjoyable weekend.  We were fortunate to have another beautiful weekend here and we took advantage.
