Friday Favorites: It's been a pretty cool week.

Hello everyone!  What an awesome week!  The weather hasn't been too hot and I've been pretty comfortable with windows down..minus the sleeping and peeing thing.  Today, I'm linking with Momfessionals, Grace and Love Blog, and A Little Bit of Everything to share my Friday Favorites with you.  Hope you enjoy!

Friday Favorites: Our Week At A Glance

Hi everyone!  It's Friday.  More important than that, it's Good Friday.  There is so much importance and power in this day, such remembrance, such humility--knowing that we weren't and aren't worthy at all.  This week I decided to link up with the beautiful ladies from A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love, and Momfessionals for Friday Favorites. Here's my Week At A Glance.

Friday Frazzle: My Week In Review

Hello everyone! I hope it’s been a fantastic week for you! It’s been a mixed bag for me. Some days have been wonderful. Others, like after the news of another mass shooting, not so much. I’ve been enjoying the link up with Narci, Erika, and Andrea so I decided to continue it. Here is my week in review and a few favorites too!

Homecoming three years ago with Honeybee!
Because this month is National Adoption Month and November 1st was National Author's Day, I thought it would be nice to share some of Honeybee and my favorite adoption or adoption related books, along with a few recommendations from friends with you during this week's Friday Favorites.  I'm linking with A Little Bit of Everything, Momfessionals, and Grace and Love and hope you have an amazing Friday.

Friday Favorites: Still Falling ‘for Fall

Hello everyone! Happy Friday to you! This week has been an interesting mix of Fall and pre-Winter temps, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had hot chocolate quite a few times and even enjoyed chili! Yay!!! It might sound cheesy, but I really do live for this season. As such I had to share with you some of my favorite Fall finds this week! It’s like the community has finally caught on that this great season is here. Last week, I decided to do a link up with other bloggers for Friday Favorites. I had a ball and met some really cool people so I decided to so again. Today, I’m linking with A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love, and Momfessionals for their Friday Favorites! Hope you enjoy!

Friday Frazzle: A Week of Faves

Hi guys! Happy Friday!  I’m am hoping your week has been awesome and filled with all kinds of Fall things. Temps are getting cooler and I am absolutely loving this season. I actually turned on the heat last night. 😀Yep, that was needed! I also thought today was the perfect day to share hot chocolate with baby A....nope.

Friday Thoughts: She doesn't have to hug you.

Hugs, optional.

This morning, my 4 year old daughter tried to get my 1 year old daughter to give her a hug. Baby A (our one year old) wasn’t having it and Honeybee (our 4 year old) was getting frustrated. “Mommy, she won’t give me a hug!” I smiled with so much love and gently told my beautiful 4 year old that her sister didn’t have to hug her. I reminded Honeybee that she and I had discussed feeling comfortable in your own space and that included hugging or kisses. If she [Honeybee] didn’t want to hug or kiss someone including adult relatives, she was not required to do so. The same went for her siblings. Honeybee stopped, looked at her sister, looked back at me and smiled. “Okay, Mommy”. When she hopped off the chair and went to play, her little sister followed her…and gave her a hug on her own terms a few minutes later.

Friday Frazzle: The Joy of Motherhood

This week I’ve seen my social media timelines filled with beautiful daughters and handsome sons in recognition of Sons and Daughters Days. All of the posts celebrated their children and all of the posts made you feel the love that the parents have for their babies. I’m no exception. I love being a mother. It’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given.

Hey loves! Happy Friday! I hope you week has been rainbows and butterflies, but if not, let’s just celebrate the upcoming weekend any way. This week has been an interesting conglomerate of kids running, new power tools, work deadlines, and graduation memories. It’s been awesome!

I’m pleased to share this week’s favorites with you as I ride to beautiful North Carolina to celebrate the military retirement of one of our family’s dear Marine friends! (Thank you for your service, Sir!). I’ll post more on that for our Weekend Recap, but for now…here’s what I’m digging this week. Hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Feel free to link to your faves as well. I’m all about sharing the love.

Friday Frazzle: My Mother's Day Wishlist

Hello everyone!  It's been a REALLY busy week.  Truly it has, so much so I had no idea this weekend is Mother's Day!  I'm so serious.  I had no idea until I saw an email from our church asking if the women would consider wearing a specific color for Women's Day.  In my head I thought "We only do Women's Day for Mother's Day.  Wait!  Is that this weekend?"  So, yeah...shows how much I've been paying attention.

So, in honor of this week's Friday Frazzle, I decided to share my personal Mother's Day Wish List.  Now, please know I have no expectation of receiving any of this and I don't need it.  My kids and husband do a pretty good job of letting me know they appreciate me on a regular basis.  So a day isn't going to do too much.  That being said, if I were asked my preference, I'd request the following:

Hi guys!  It's Friday!  I'm so super excited about this Friday.  Tomorrow is my anniversary and I'm looking forward to just spending time with S.  It's been a very busy week and I figured I'd share some of my favorites from it. Happy reading!

With baseball season well underway, Bug and I have been going to practice solo for a few evenings.  Saturday, we decided it would be nice to sit down and have a conversation of donuts.  We stopped at Duck Donuts for warm donuts and fun conversation.   I ordered the Beachball (on the right).  S. ordered the Oreo Lover's (middle), and I got a Maple Icing with Chopped Bacon for us to split.  They were all so yummy and we had about 20 minutes of uninterrupted conversation with sticky fingers and full tummies at the end.

One of my good friends recently purchase a new home with her husband.  She is in the process of getting rid of items she no longer needs or items that will no longer work for the decor of the new home.  She asked if we were interested in a new dressed and I jumped on the opportunity.  Honeybee's dresser fell apart quite some time ago with all of the wear and tear a energetic young lady like her gives it.  We were going to purchase a replacement and could find nothing we liked.  We saw this, jumped at the chance, and it is now resting comfortably in Honeybee's room along with butterflies and other cute designs.  I can't wait to share it with you when it's all done.

So you guys know I'm kind of a zombie fan, right?  So, I've been reading the Dangerous Days series by Baileigh Higgins and am getting some interest in the story.  There are some things I don't like (most authors do really tell you the kids get it, it's implied).  But it's a pretty good read for those in the genre.  If you'd like to read the series, I included the link below.

My sister is amazing!  I came home this week to a box filled with beautiful shoes, dresses, outfits, and headbands for baby A.  It was too cute!  She's just getting started however.  She has a box for the other children coming as well.  I love her and the kids absolutely adore her!  (Look at those headbands!!)

We locked on tickets to an anniversary cruise this week.  I'm really looking forward to this adventure and hope my husband and I enjoy the experience.  I'll be sure to write a recap as soon as I can.

So, there you go.  That's it in a nutshell.  My Friday Frazzled faves.

Friday Frazzle:The Golden Rule & My Friday Favorites

Hi guys!  Can you believe it?!  We made it to Friday!  I am SO thankful!  The weatherman tells me that it's supposed to be a beautiful 70 degrees outside today.  I'm hoping I will be able to close up shop early and get outside with Honeybee, baby A, and Bug and enjoy it for a bit.

Today's Frazzle focuses on the golden rule.  Specifically, Matthew 7:12..

So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matt. 7:12 NIV)

It's not a hard rule to follow.  In fact, it's kind of easy when you think about it.  Unfortunately, it seems these days it's harder than ever for some people to follow it.  Take yesterday.  A colleague and I have a lunch system where he pays for lunch for both of us one day, I do the same the next or the vice versa.  Sometimes he drives to the place and picks it up, sometimes I do.  It just so happened that yesterday was my day for picking up lunch.

Friday Frazzle: Faith Inspired Easter Basket Ideas for your Baby

We are rapidly approaching Easter. I’m so excited. You all already know how much this holiday means to me. It’s more than a holiday. It’s a relationship, a celebration of Jesus. We know that He is the reason for the season and are more than grateful that He loved us so much that He died and rose again for us. It’s a joy my family shares.

Still, I am also aware that children like an opportunity to share in some of the holiday activities they see their peers participating in. My children are no different. I decided, when Bug was still very young and it was just the two of us that I would create Easter Baskets that speak to faith and allow him the childhood memories of Easter baskets just like my family did with me. They were a great hit.  I now do the the same with my Honeybee and am looking forward to being able to include baby A. in her first Easter.

Friday Frazzle: Quick Meals for Game/Practice Nights

Hello everyone!  Happy Friday!

Today's Friday Frazzle is in honor of baseball season!  I know.  I know.  I recently posted about how less than excited I am about the upcoming season. BUT I am also ALL things food, and now that practice schedules have been released for the week, my calendar looks like Honeybee attacked it with her finger paints.  That means it's time to get back to my "quick and out the door" meals for practice and game nights.  I have NO problem with that!

Below are are meals that my family makes or have had made for us to ensure we get out the door quickly on those nights practice and game times are looming.

The kids give them thumbs up and we hope you do, too!

Oh, and I am ALWAYS looking for yummy recipes.  Feel free to leave a few of your own!

Friday Frazzle: I Love My Hair! A Book Review of a Melanin Inspired Birthday Gift

It in no way affects your order or experience. As always, the opinions expressed on this blog are solely mine. For full disclosure, please click here.

Hi everyone. Today's Friday Frazzle is a book review for an amazing birthday gift Honeybee received on her 4th birthday. So, I am ALL about teaching my daughter to be comfortable in her skin and to embrace every beautiful part of her including her beautiful 4c hair. She knows that Mommy has a huge bag filled with wide tooth combs, leave in conditioner, shampoos, hair bands, etc. all for her hair. She sometimes asks me "Mommy, is my hair pretty" and even on the days it absolutely wants to be diva and not play, I assure her that her hair is indeed pretty.

That's why I was so excited about the "Hair Training" episode from Sesame Street and the reason I was that much more excited at the book my cousin (Honeybee's sitter) chose for Honeybee's birthday. I Love My Hair! authored by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley and illustrated by E. B. Lewis.

The book discusses how every evening a little girl names Keyana sits between her mother's legs while her mother combs her hair and oils her scalp with coconut oil.  My Honeybee related immediately, especially the part where sometimes it may hurt when there is a snag or tangle.  (Incidentally, I love Shea Moisture Kids Extra-Moisturizer Detangler, Coconut & Hibiscus,)

Friday Frazzle: Honeybee's Birthday Wish List

When I was a child, I grew up excited that the two days special and unexpected things could and would occur were Christmas and birthdays. Those were the times where, despite budgets being extremely tight, we could hope for something magical to occur. It often did like the year my Mom moved heaven and heck for an alto saxophone to replace the used and beaten one I’d been carrying in the marching band. I’ve carried some of that on to my children. They know that birthdays and Christmas bring amazing family experiences.

So when our Honeybee came tiptoeing up to me last week and asking if she could have a few simple items, my heart melted for a couple of reasons. (1) This is the first time she has asked for anything specifically for any celebration and (2) Her list really is quite tame. She’s such a generous spirit. Of course, I couldn’t wait to share with you all.

1. A Pretty Birthday Cake. When queried further, the “pretty” means any pastel colored cake. Our Honeybee is a Minnie Mouse Bowtique and Paw Patrol fan. The local stores don’t have Paw Patrol, so I’m grabbing her this lovely for her day.
I can't wait to surprise our Honeybee with this cake!

Friday Frazzle: Valentine's Sweet (& Savory) Treats

Today's Frazzle contains links to other blogs or recipe sites.  I receive NO compensation from these links.  Just wanted to share!

Hi guys! It's another Friday Frazzle and in the spirit of the Valentine's season, I thought I would share today's sweet frazzle with you!  Those who know me know I love anything that lets me shower love on my babies, so it should come as no surprise that I really enjoy Valentine’s Day.  While I know the commercial industry really packs on the gift giving for couples, I’m really big on making sure the family members feel super special (though I try to do this every day).  Since Valentine’s Day is a great time to enjoy sweets in all their greatness, I decided to share a few of my favorites with you.

Friday Frazzle: Gridiron Grub

Hi everyone!!  So ideally, I would love to have the NFL theme play here, but since I can’t…let’s just pretend that we hear it in the background as we prepare for this week’s Friday Frazzle: Gridiron Grub (aka Superbowl Foods). Guys, it’s Superbowl time!  As much as I loathe the New England Patriots (sorry to the fans), I love the celebration that is Superbowl. I love the competition, the rivalries, the intense battles, the fun commercials, and the food. Guys, seriously, the food can make or break your Superbowl Party.

Friday Frazzle: Gridiron Grub!!!
This year, several friends have requested that guests bring their favorite dish(es) to add to the quality and quantity of the festivities. I have always loved a good potluck. If you all are doing the same, here’s hoping today’s Frazzle will get you inspired!
