Parenting Hacks for Surviving a Trip to the Zoo

Kids never forget anything!  A few weeks ago, I mentioned to the older littles that I would be willing to take them to the zoo on the first full weekend of Spring.  I hadn't taken the kids for a number of years and knew this would be the year that I wanted to do so.  Sure enough, the kids were super excited the Friday before.  They were more than excited and more than ready to go.

Sick and Pregnant

Hello everyone!  I was supposed to have posted my Weekend Recap about our fun zoo trip yesterday, but Sunday night I was hit with a massive stomach virus that had me regurgitating everything in my stomach every 40 minutes like clockwork.  This lasted until yesterday morning about 6:30, but by then I was so weak and tired from using the trash can as my friend that I just lay on the couch trying to see if I was going to brave enough to try and eat.  I wasn't until about 6:30 last evening when the baby in my belly started dictating that I try something.

WEEK 19:  13-20 March 2019
Hi guys!  It's Spring!  Yay!  I'm super excited to see warmer temps and some longer days.  I'm sure there will be a post soon about Spring, but until it's shared....WELCOME BACK, SPRING!!!!  This week's pregnancy update is pretty uneventful, but I look forward to sharing with you all the same.  Have a fantastic day!

12 Things I Didn't Do With Pregnancy #2 That I'm Definitely Doing This Time

I realize that ever pregnancy is different and maybe that’s why I bowed out of doing so many of the fun things that people get to do with their pregnancies.  This time around though, I’m all for cute and fun and sentimental.  Here are a few things I didn’t do with my last pregnancy that I’m definitely doing this time.

Dressing My Bump: Embracing Maternity Fashion for Pregnancy #3

(NOT an Affiliate post)
Okay, I’ll be honest here. When I was expecting baby A., I wasn’t exactly a fashion maven. Most of my maternity clothes came from graciously donated and loved maternity wear from co-workers and family members. There were functional pieces in there and even some beautiful dresses, but I still didn’t really have a maternity wear flow. Since I was more interested with comfort than fashion, I kind of allowed my wardrobe to diminish. Even a supervisor commented how he missed the business suits and flair I was known for when I became pregnant. I felt no insult because so did I. When I confirmed that S. and I were expecting this baby, I made a decision that I was going to find cute, functional, and budget friendly maternity pieces that would flatter my bump and keep my moods high. Thankfully, the Internet is filled with great suggestions and I’ve been having a great time sensibly stocking up!

WEEK 18:  7-13 March 2019
Hello everyone!  It's been a productive week though very busy.  The sun has come out a few days and the temperatures have been such that the littles have been able to run around outside for a while.  Daylight savings time definitely kicked my butt this week and S. and I kind of announced our pregnancy on social media.  Here's this week's preggo update!  Hope you enjoy!

Weekend Recap: Our Top 5

Friday afternoon, I picked Bug up from school a few minutes before dismissal so that he could get a hair cut.  His hair grows so fast, so he was definitely overdue.  I love out barber.  He's a family friend who has an amazing rapport with kids and adults alike.  The last time he cut Bug's hair, Bug promised him that he'd bring him a baked good that he cooked from the Raddish club.  He bought him a full plate and they were pretty yummy.  Bug walked out with a nice haircut and we enjoyed some Mommy Son time in the car.

Thursday Truth: The Battle of PPD-- Yes, I Take An Anti-depressant. Yes, I Am STILL a Good Mother.

The American Psychological Association© says “1 in 7 women experience postpartum depression.  PDD doesn’t go away on its own and can appear days or even months after delivering a baby.  It can last for weeks or months if left untreated”.

Lessons from the Kitchen

Yesterday, my son came to me and asked if he could prepare dinner. Specifically, he wanted to make one of the recipes included in his monthly cooking kit. As he loves to try and cook and he is more than of the age to be comfortable in the kitchen, I agreed to let him do so. The recipe cards are pretty straight forward and I passed them along to him with the guidance that he should take his time and call me if he needed me...It didn't go well.

The recipe card..

WEEK 17:  27 Feb-6 March 2019
Hi everyone!  I hope your week was fantastic.  I enjoyed celebrating Honeybee's birthday and am looking forward to anatomy scans soon.  It's time to give our weekly bump update.  Hope you enjoy it.

Weekend Recap: The Sleepover Edition

Guys!  My tired is tired!  What an awesome weekend, but man what an exhausting one ☺!  S. and I were still up in the air about just how we would celebrate Honeybee turning 5 years old.  It's a milestone and begs a nice celebration, but with our huge family we just can't go anywhere.  Tuesday or so, S. suggested a visit to Chuck E. Cheese and a sleepover with the little cousins.  Now, full disclaimer, I am not a fan of Chuck E. Cheese.  No knock on them, but I think of them as little germ factories lol.  That being said, the one in our area recently underwent a renovation (per the flyer outside) and was ready for our large family.
